Precision Masking
Aerospace, defence, electronics and customised precision masking are areas for which we have long been renowned, with staff averaging over 13 years’ experience in this department. We take immense pride in a beautiful job — the key to a successful finish is in the fine lines, sharp edges and meticulous detail, and our team understands this better than anyone.
Shot Blasting
Shot blasting uses high-velocity particles to clean, prepare or modify surfaces prior to further finishing. The choice of blast media depends on the base material and the finish required:
- Aluminium oxide — an abrasive material suitable for tougher jobs such as removing existing coatings from metals.
- Glass beads — gentler, creating smoother finishes; often used for cleaning or etching.
- Garnet and steel grit — meeting the performance requirements of SA 2½ grade as per ISO 8501-1:2007.

Paint Systems
With over 50 years’ experience, our team is highly skilled in complex masking and paint finishes across a comprehensive range of systems, processed to a full range of UK DEF STAN and US MIL specifications. Systems include: Stove Enamelling, Anti-Corrosion, Dry Film Lubricants, Subsea/Marine, Rubber, Acrylic, Aerospace and Defence coatings.
Powder Coating
Powder coating is applied electrostatically as a free-flowing dry powder and then cured under heat. The powder does not require a solvent, resulting in a tougher, more flexible finish than conventional liquid paint. We process to a comprehensive range of UK DEF STAN and US MIL specifications.
Paint Stripping — Benzyl Alcohol with an Alkalinity Booster
Our benzyl alcohol paint-stripping solution is extremely effective at removing coatings while actively aiding corrosion protection without compromising the integrity of the base metal. The alkalinity booster promotes corrosion protection for mild steel, while silicates protect aluminium components throughout the process. Ideal for polyurethane-based paints, acrylic, lacquers, epoxy-based paints and electro-coated paints.
3 & 5 Axis CNC Machining & Laser Engraving
Machining
Our 3 & 5 axis CNC machining capability covers the machining and engraving of panels, boxes and billets across a wide range of materials. We work to tight tolerances on one-off development components and high-volume production batches alike, with full traceability and quality documentation at every stage.
Laser Engraving
Our CO2 and Fibre lasers engrave and cut items in a wide range of materials. We can produce text or images directly from your drawings, increasing speed, reducing costs and ensuring complete accuracy. Ideal for panels, labels, fascias and identification products across aerospace, defence and industrial applications.
Infilling
We can engrave and infill, or just infill your supplied engraved parts, with any colour to suit your requirements. We have a wealth of experience across a wide range of substrates and infill materials to ensure a quality, durable finish every time.
CMM Geometry Measuring
A coordinate measuring machine (CMM) uses a contact probe to precisely measure the geometry of components, ensuring the dimensional accuracy of every machined part before finishing commences. The all-aluminium bridge structure ensures low inertia and high acceleration, delivering speed and accuracy in the working environment as the machine’s temperature rapidly follows that of the room.
Fitted with a Renishaw RTP20 auto-indexing probe head, giving indexing positions from 0–90° in the A axis and ±180° in the B axis in 15° increments.
The software draws features as they are measured and allows dimensions to be added exactly as they appear on component drawings. The CAD Comparison module allows IGES or STEP format files to be imported — any points taken will show the error of the measured point relative to the CAD model. Reports are produced in graphical and/or tabulated formats to suit your quality documentation requirements.
Silk & Anodic Screen Printing
By combining traditional screen printing with the latest advances in technology — including sub-surface anodic printing and epoxy printing — we achieve a high-quality print finish onto a variety of substrates. We deliver a wide range of products from self-adhesive vinyl labels through to complex, multi-colour Rolls-Royce panels.
Sub-surface anodic printing provides a scratch-resistant result that is integral to the component rather than a surface coating, making it particularly suited to aerospace, defence and high-wear industrial applications.
Iridite NCP
Iridite NCP is a RoHS-compliant, chromium-free chemical conversion coating for aluminium components. It provides excellent corrosion resistance and paint adhesion, and is electrically conductive — making it particularly suitable where conductivity must be maintained alongside surface protection. Can be used as a standalone finish or as a pre-treatment prior to painting or powder coating.
SurTec 650
SurTec 650 is a RoHS-compliant, trivalent chromium passivation treatment for aluminium components. It delivers excellent corrosion resistance and paint adhesion with a lighter, more consistent coating weight than traditional conversion coatings. Suitable as a standalone finish or as a pre-treatment prior to painting or powder coating, and approved for use in modern aerospace and defence supply chains.
Clear and Black Anodising
Clear and black sulphuric anodising is a RoHS-compliant, chromium-free electrochemical treatment for aluminium components. The process uses electricity to build a dense aluminium oxide layer directly into the surface — providing the most abrasion-resistant unpainted finish available, as well as excellent corrosion protection. Suitable as a standalone finish in clear or black, or as a pre-treatment before paint or powder coating. Heat resistant with high contact resistance, but can be masked or machined to create contact points where required. Meets MIL-A-8625F Type 2 CLASS 1/2 and DEF STAN 03-25.
