What Are the Benefits of a Laser Engraving?

Engraving involves producing words and pictures on an object by taking away material and leaving behind a permanent mark. Although the initial outlay for the lasers and software for the computer-controlled mechanisms can be considerable, a laser engraving business offers many benefits that make these costs a worthwhile investment.

Speed – Traditional engraving is time-consuming, as the material must be scratched by hand using specialized tools. Laser engravers are often fitted onto a production line, significantly reducing manufacturing time.

Accuracy – Professional engravers depend on accuracy to keep costs low. Computer control ensures more accuracy and allows more complex designs than traditional engraving methods.

Cost – Shorter production times mean less wear and tear on tools. Because the laser is not in contact with the material being engraved, there is less need to purchase replacements.

Environmentally friendly – Rotary engraving is environmentally friendly, creating no fumes or residues other than chips, which are removed by a simple vacuum. Laser systems burn material and require extraction systems within your facility. When burning any type of plastic, lacquered or painted products, a charcoal and particulates filter should be used to collect hazardous fumes and dust.
